Alianza Atlético
Club Alianza Atlético de Sullana, shorted to Alianza Atlético, is a Peruvian football club, located in the city of Sullana, Piura. The club was founded in 1920 and promoted to the Peruvian Primera División in 1988 and again in 2015. Alianza Atlético has a long-standing rivalry with Atlético Grau and Atlético Torino. They are the only Peruvian top-tier club not based in a state capital. History The club was founded January 18, 1920. It been present for the first time in an end of Copa Perú in 1984 where obtained the subchampionship under Los Espartanos of Pacasmayo. Its income to the Professional Championship obtained it via the Intermediate Phase of 1987. The club has played in the Primera División Peruana since 1988. Alianza has never been national champions since they were promoted. After the introduction of the first FIFA World Cup in 1930 (which had, in itself led to the absence of a football tournament from the 1932 Games programme), competing nations would from now on only be permitted to play their best players if those players were amateur or (where national associations were assisted by interested states to traverse such a rule) where professional players were state-sponsored. The 2011 Torneo Descentralizado de Fútbol Profesional (known as the 2011 Copa Movistar for sponsorship reasons) was the ninety-fifth season of Association Peruvian football. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament, with Universidad de San Martín as the defending champion.
